All of the hard work for this site is dedicated to the 40+ people who lost their jobs from the 1UP cuts.

On 1/6/2009, zip davis sold 1UP to UGO, a relatively unknown company. Within an hour of acquiring 1UP, UGO fired 40+ great staff members. UGO then proceeded to eliminate a plethora of great content from the 1UP team. The signature 1UP magazine, EGM, was cancelled along with all of the free podcasts.

1UP was the home of many free podcasts such as The 1UP Show, 1UP FM, 1UP Yours, GFW Radio, Retronauts, The Legendary Thread, Sports Anomaly, Review Crew, Retronauts: Bonus Stage, The 1UP Show on ESPN, and Broken Pixels. All of these were weekly podcasts that averaged over an hour long.

May 1UP be remembered as one of the best sources of quality news and podcasts.
